The Law and Freedom Student Club of Ilia State University was founded on November 17, 2016, by students of the Iliauni Law School. The club’s main projects are for Law School students, though where possible they cover various fields across all faculties of Iliauni.
The main directions of the club’s activities are:
- Public lectures – the topics of the lectures are diverse, which naturally increases the number of interested students and gives them the opportunity to obtain additional information on a given issue;
- Film screenings, which are important in the process of non-formal education and aimed at a better understanding of various practices, problems in society, and topical issues turned into film. After the screening, a discussion is held;
- Moot court proceedings ensure the realization of students’ theoretical knowledge in practice and the development of practical skills;
- Trainings – give students the opportunity to receive information on issues of interest directly from field experts;
- Institutional visits to various structures (e.g., the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia, the Supreme Court, the National Bureau of Enforcement, the Bureau of Expertise, the audit service, etc.);
- Intellectual games.
The club’s goal is:
- To give as many students as possible the opportunity to engage in events organized by the club;
- To better plan their active student life;
- To help students develop both professional and general education and skills;
- The student club also cooperates with school pupils and, through the events listed above, helps popularize the university.
